ABOUT SINGALILA
Where the Earth Meets the Sky – A Realm of Endless Vistas and Untamed Wilderness.
Perched along the Singalila Ridge in the Eastern Himalayas, Singalila National Park is a breathtaking expanse of raw wilderness, stretching along the Indo-Nepal border in the Indian state of West Bengal. Situated at an altitude ranging from 7,900 ft to 12,000 ft (2,400 m to 3,636 m), it is the highest national park in West Bengal, offering dramatic landscapes and unparalleled views of the world’s tallest peaks, including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, and Chomo Lonzo.
Famed for its diverse ecosystems, the park transforms through the seasons—from vibrant rhododendron blooms in spring to golden-hued grasslands in autumn. Its dense forests, home to the elusive red panda, Himalayan black bear, and rare pheasants like the satyr tragopan, make it a paradise for nature lovers and wildlife photographers.
The weather here is ever-changing, with crisp, cool air year-round and temperatures ranging from sub-zero in winter to a pleasant 2–10°C in autumn. The monsoon cloaks the region in mist, while autumn and winter bring clear skies and stunning vistas, perfect for landscape and astro-landscape photography. With its untouched beauty, rolling meadows, ancient forests, and pristine night skies, Singalila National Park offers an immersive experience of nature in its purest, most unspoiled form.

Weather
During March and October, Singalila National Park welcomes the onset of spring and autumn with refreshing temperatures—daytime ranges from 2°C to 8°C, while nights can be chilly, often dropping to around 0°C. In spring, vibrant rhododendrons bloom, and wildlife activity increases, including sightings of red pandas and a variety of bird species. Clear skies and crisp air offer excellent views of the Himalayan peaks, making this an ideal time for photography and trekking. While the weather in this region can be unpredictable and beyond our control, past experience has shown that this period is generally favorable for exploring Singalila.
Weather Disclaimer: Astro landscape photography depends on local weather conditions, which can be unpredictable, though March generally offers the best chances for clear skies.
