Raised in boxing gyms and rugged pubs, James Ward Breen infuses his storytelling with a unique blend of grit and reverence. Through photography and film, James captures the sacred in the people and cultures he encounters, bringing authenticity to every frame.

His photography has been featured in international publications including the BBC, The Guardian, Euronews, the South China Morning Post, and Digital Photographer Magazine. In 2023, James’ still photography was recognized with a World Sports Photography Award Gold Medal and two Special Merit Awards.

James’ debut screenplay, The Killer Within, was selected for the Screen NSW Aurora Script Development program, while his follow-up, The Last Publican, received development support from Screen Australia and was invited to the Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam.

His award-winning short films have screened at festivals worldwide, and he is currently in post-production on a feature documentary, After The Swill.

Represented by Zuma Press (USA), James resides in Sydney, Australia, yet travels wherever the story leads.
