Mongolia Photo Tour

Join us on an unforgettable 12-day photography adventure through the vast steppes, ancient deserts, and nomadic cultures of Mongolia

Step Into a World Untouched by Time

Imagine a world that is wild, untouched, and so remote that it remains one of the least inhabited regions on Earth. A world where an ancient nomadic culture has formed a unique bond with one of the world’s most revered birds of prey — the Golden Eagle. This is the realm of the Kazakh Eagle Hunters, who not only endure the harsh landscapes of western Mongolia but have mastered the art of hunting with eagles, pursuing prey like rabbits and even foxes in a tradition passed down through generations.

Vast, rugged, and timeless — Mongolia is a land where ancient customs meet epic natural beauty. From the golden hues of autumn to the stark, poetic silence of winter, our Mongolia Photo Tours offer two distinct visual journeys through this extraordinary country.

Whether you’re drawn to the dramatic light over the Altai Mountains, the rich culture of the eagle hunters, or the surreal beauty of snow-covered steppes, these tours are crafted for photographers seeking authenticity, adventure, and breathtaking imagery. Mongolia is undoubtedly one of the most compelling destinations for those with an adventurous eye and a passion for storytelling through photograph

Experience Mongolia Beyond the Ordinary

Our guided photography tours are carefully crafted to take you far beyond the city limits of Ulaanbaatar and deep into the heart of Mongolia’s wild, nomadic landscapes. While the capital has its own charm, it’s in the remote steppes and rugged highlands where the most powerful stories unfold — and where the most compelling images await.

This journey offers rare, intimate access to the authentic lives of Mongolia’s people. You’ll document daily life inside traditional ger camps, ride alongside camel herders across the desert plains, and experience private portrait sessions with real shamans in remote villages — moments few travellers ever witness, let alone capture. You’ll also have concentrated, one-on-one photo sessions with traditional Kazakh Eagle Hunters, allowing for stunning, timeless portraits in breathtaking natural settings.

From wild horses galloping across the horizon to families living in felt tents beneath a sky full of stars, this is Mongolia at its most real and most photogenic — and no other photo tour offers this level of immersive, behind-the-scenes access.

Private Eagle Hunters Festival

An Unforgettable Encounter With Mongolia’s Legendary Tradition

No photo journey to Mongolia would be complete without witnessing the powerful bond between Kazakh hunters and their Golden Eagles. While many tours attend the yearly, commercialized eagle festivals — often crowded and curated for tourists  EXPOSURE offers something far more authentic: exclusive access to a private Eagle Hunters Festival.

This special event is organized solely for our group, giving you unparalleled opportunities to photograph the Eagle Hunters as they demonstrate the art of hunting with their majestic birds. Watch as they practice traditional techniques in the dramatic landscapes of the Altai, with no crowds, no rush — just you, the hunter, and the eagle.

The synergy between man and bird is extraordinary, and you’ll be up close to capture the power, grace, and mutual respect shared in this ancient relationship. From intense action shots to thoughtful, composed portraits, it’s a rare privilege to document this legendary tradition in its most genuine form.

What Makes Our Mongolia Photo Tour Unique?

Our Mongolia Photo Tour is not just a trip — it’s a deeply immersive photographic expedition crafted with attention to every detail. Here’s what sets us apart:

Proven Expertise & Experience

We have successfully completed 9 photo expeditions in Mongolia over the past 5 years — a testament to our deep understanding of the land, its people, and the needs of serious photographers.

Exceptionally Small Group

We limit the tour to only 4 participants to ensure an intimate experience and personal mentorship. You’ll be guided by an internationally renowned photographer with extensive knowledge of the region, giving you rare access to both cultural and photographic opportunities.

Premium Accommodations

Stay at one of the best hotels in the heart of Ulaanbaatar, and throughout the journey, enjoy the best available ger camps and tented accommodations, selected for both comfort and authenticity.

Comfortable Travel in Harsh Terrain

We travel in top-quality, off-road-ready, air-conditioned 4×4 Toyota or Lexus Land Cruisers, with a maximum of 3 participants per vehicle for comfort and space. Mongolia’s climate and roads can be challenging, and we ensure you explore with safety and ease.

Exclusive Access to a Nomadic Migration

Travel alongside our close friend and Kazakh eagle hunter Yermyek and his family, accompanied by nearly 2,000 animals — including camels, horses, goats, sheep, and yaks — as they cross snowy passes, frozen lakes, and breathtaking Altai Mountain landscapes.

Experienced Local Fixers and Guides

We work with the same trusted team who supported the BBC’s Human Planet production in Western Mongolia. These local experts understand exactly what photographers and filmmakers need, ensuring the best light, timing, and cultural access.

Authentic Cultural Encounters

Enjoy exclusive, concentrated photo sessions with traditional Eagle Hunters, capturing their lifestyle, training, and hunts — far from tourist crowds, in private, carefully curated environments.

Unmatched Landscape Photography

From snow-covered steppes to the dramatic peaks of the Altai Mountains, this journey is a dream for landscape photographers. We carefully time our sessions for the best light and visual drama.

Knowledgeable Local Guide

Our English-speaking local guide is deeply knowledgeable about both the natural and human history of Mongolia, enriching your understanding of the places and people you’ll photograph.

It was my pleasure to join the Exposure’s photography tour of the ‘Migration of the Eagle Hunters’ in Autumn, 2023. The tour started in Ulaanbaatar and our hotel’s location was perfect. Close to all the main sites, restaurants and nightlife. The hotel was clean and friendly with an excellent breakfast. We flew to Ulgii and started our drive to join the eagle hunters and their migration. The scenery was delightful and our Mongolian crew were superb. We had 3 vehicles to carry us, our tents, and our supplies. From our first lunch to our last breakfast we had the best cook one could find. Our crew put up tents for us or we slept in Gers. Even on cold nights I was warm and happy. Each day we started with breakfast, taking pictures as the eagle hunters milked their animals or prepared to leave. I felt part of the migration, talking with the family, helping out, and of course, taking pictures. The day was spent following the migration of the herd in the vehicles, jumping out for a 2 to 3 kilometer hike taking pictures of the trip. Loved every minute of it. Nights were at camp, being spoiled by our wonderful Mongolian crew and enjoying the breathtaking scenery. Every day a photo shot was arranged of the eagle hunters or family. Lots of opportunities to get wonderful shots. Upon arriving back in Ulgii we stayed at an enjoyable hotel once again close to all the best attractions of the city. Every night in Uglii we had a photo shoot of different eagle hunters and an enjoyable dinner afterwards. If you are looking for a unique travel/photo opportunity I highly recommend the Autumn Expedition to see the Migration of the Eagle Hunters.Mongolia Photo Tour
